Security Guard Course Outline
The Security Guard Course runs over 3 or 4 days and is divided into 3 units:
1. Working in the Private Security Industry,
2. Working as a Security Guard,
3. Conflict Management.
On the final day of the course there will be 3 multiple-choice exams (one for each unit) designed to test your knowledge of the content you learned during the course.

How long will it take me to complete this course?
This certification must be completed in a minimum of four days via distance learning or five days in a classroom setting if not using distance learning.
What criteria are used to evaluate the qualification?
It is organized into three modules and graded using three multiple-choice exams.
The following are the units:
Unit 1: Working Principles in the Private Security Industry
A 110-minute multiple-choice exam with 72 questions was used to assess the candidate. To pass this unit, students must have a score of at least 70%.
Externally set, internally scored practical assessment task based on the completion of an evidentiary statement.
Unit 2: Working as a Security Officer in the Private Security Industry: Principles
A 90-minute multiple-choice exam with 60 questions was used to assess the candidate. To pass this unit, students must have a score of at least 70%.
Externally set, internally assessed practical evaluation involving observation of searching and communication device use.
Unit 3: Conflict Resolution Techniques in the Private Security Industry
A 30-minute multiple-choice exam with 20 questions was used to assess the student. To pass this unit, students must have a score of at least 70%.

So, what’s next?
Individuals who complete this certification can advance to a Level 2 Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry, as well as a Level 2 Award for CCTV Operators (Public Space Surveillance) in the Private Security Industry.
